Millersburg Town Council Meeting
March 28th, 2007
The regular monthly meeting of the Millersburg Town Council was held on Wednesday March 28th, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. at the Millersburg Town Hall.
James Winkler called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
A motion was made by James Winkler to approve the minutes for March 14th, 2007. The motion was seconded by Abe Beachy and upon a voice vote was approved unanimously.
Park
- Park Board President Duane Mahler informed the Council that there needs to be a change in Park Maintenance Director Kurt Kritzman’s pay for 2007. Due to the change in the seasons in the last couple of years the park season last longer, causing the need for Director Kritzman to work longer in the fall. President Mahler would like to change Director Kritzman’s work schedule from six (6) months to (7) months. Director Kritzman’s pay last year was $7,700.00 over a six month period or $641.66 per pay. The change would be $641.66 per pay times seven months for a total of $8,983.24. Dean Hawkins made the motion to increase Director Kritzman’s pay James Winkler seconded and upon a voice vote was approved unanimously.
- President Mahler informed the Council that the dumpster at Cook Station Park is damaged and a couple of the totes are also broken. Jack Lantz Maintenance Assistant was instructed to call Himco and get the dumpster and totes fixed or replaced.
Water Superintendent
- Water Superintendent Eldridge asked that the Council consider hiring M.E. Simpson to move and map the water valves in town, due to an incident where he needed to shut off water and turned off eight valves and the water kept flowing. Council Member Abe Beachy had a concern about not doing the whole job however; it would be in the area of $30,000.00 to do the rest of the town. The Council approved having the mapping done. The Council would prefer it be done in two days instead of three days.
- Superintendent Eldridge asked the Council if he could have Pro-Form clean valve boxes. The cost would be approximately $1,400.00 per day. The Council approved the request.
- Superintendent Eldridge informed the Council that he will be flushing the hydrants on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday April 2nd, 3rd, 4th 2007 if weather permits if not then April 9th, 10th, 11th will be the alternate dates.
Wastewater Superintendent
- Superintendent Eldridge informed the Council that he is concerned that the Merrell Brothers invoice came out of the TIF Fund and should have come out of the Wastewater Improvement Fund. Superintendent Eldridge will check with the Clerk/Treasurer.
- Superintendent Eldridge informed the Council that the consultant is in process working on the sewer rate study.
Maintenance Director
- Assistant Director Jack Lantz informed the Council that patching on the potholes has started.
Marshal
- Marshal Hathaway informed the Council that he will be replacing the radios in the Police vehicles. There was a short discussion on putting emergency GPS in the Police vehicles.
- Marshal Hathaway informed the Council that he has been busy with a lot of cases.
- Cash is doing well and getting more professional every day.
Clerk/Treasurer
New Business
- Brenda LeCount was present to discuss the driveway back to her property at 108 W. Lincoln Street. Mrs. LeCount informed the Council that when the town fills the potholes in the dead end street back to the lift station its okay until the hydrants are flushed then the street gets washed out. It was agreed that the Maintenance Department will bring stone out and grade the road after hydrants are flushed this year.
- Craig Yoder was present and informed the Council that he would like to put up a building on his property at 133 Elm Street. The building will be 20’ X 24’ X 12’ and have a fabric type covering. The Council approved and had no problem with the building.
James Winkler made the motion to pay bills. The motion was seconded by Dean Hawkins and upon a voice vote was approved unanimously.
