Friends of the Park Mission Statement

The Millersburg Friends of the Park will promote diversity, creativity, social skills and healthy lifestyles within our town and neighboring communities. We will work with the Millersburg Park Board to provide a stimulating and entertaining park system for the benefit of our children and their families by purchasing property, building facilities, soliciting donations, and volunteering our time for educational activities.

Millersburg Friends of the Park History

Millersburg Friends of the Park was originally established as a not-for-profit organization in 1989. The organization worked closely with the Millersburg Park and Recreation Department through 1996, helping fund and build projects at Cook Station Park and Eagle Park. Due to lack of membership, the Millersburg Friends of the Park temporarily ceased operations between 1996 and 2001.  The organization began operating again in 2001 with a combination of new and old members. Since its re-birth, Millersburg Friends of the Park has taken on several fundraising activities and has made several purchases and donations to the Millersburg Park and Recreation Department, with donations exceeding $6,000. Fundraising activities include the annual Millersburg Garage Sale Day and the annual Millersburg Farmers’ Day Festival, a community celebration that began in 1981 and is attended by several thousand people each year. The Millersburg Friends of the Park also assists the local Lions club by sponsoring a visit by Santa Clause to the town each year.
